Description

These Yogurt Dog Treats are a simple, healthy, and refreshing snack made with plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and optional banana and honey for extra flavor. Perfect for keeping your dog cool and happy, these frozen treats are easy to prepare and safe for dogs, free from any harmful ingredients like xylitol.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened and unflavored)
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (ensure it doesn’t contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs)
  • 1/2 banana, mashed (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, check if your dog has any issues with honey)

Equipment

  • Silicone molds or ice cube tray (for shaping treats)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Stir well until smooth and fully combined. If you’re adding mashed banana, incorporate it into the mixture at this point.
  2. Add Sweetener (Optional): If you’re using honey, add the tablespoon to the mixture and stir until fully blended. You can skip the honey if you prefer a less sweet treat.
  3. Fill Molds or Tray: Pour the mixture into silicone molds or an ice cube tray. Gently tap the tray or mold on the counter to remove any air bubbles and make sure the mixture is evenly distributed.
  4. Freeze the Treats: Place the molds in the freezer for 2-3 hours, or until the treats are completely frozen and firm.
  5. Serve and Store: Once frozen, remove the treats from the molds and serve immediately to your pup. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Ensure peanut butter does not contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs.
  • Honey is optional and should be given with caution, especially for dogs with allergies or sensitivities.
  • These treats should be served frozen to maintain their texture and refreshing quality.
  • Store treats in an airtight container in the freezer for best freshness, up to 2 weeks.
  • Always monitor your dog when introducing new treats to watch for any allergic reactions.
