Ingredients
Scale
Meat Filling
- 1 pound ground veal
- 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
- 1 cup taco blend cheese, shredded
Dough and Finish
- 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 cans, 8 oz each)
- 1 egg
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the crescent ring.
- Cook the Veal: Place the ground veal in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook it thoroughly, breaking it up with a spoon until no longer pink and fully cooked.
- Season the Meat: Add the taco seasoning mix and water to the cooked veal. Stir to combine, then simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles. Allow the dough to soften slightly at room temperature to make handling easier.
- Arrange Dough on Baking Sheet: Spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Arrange the triangles into a circle with the shorter sides forming a 5-inch circle in the center and points facing outward; the dough will overlap.
- Add Filling: Evenly distribute the veal mixture along the widest part of each triangle around the ring. Sprinkle the sliced green onions and shredded taco blend cheese evenly over the meat.
- Fold and Seal: Fold the pointed end of each triangle over the filling and tuck it underneath the inside of the ring to secure the filling inside the crescent dough.
- Egg Wash: Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of the crescent dough ring to give it a shiny, golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the crescent ring to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite taco toppings for an extra burst of flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute ground veal with ground beef or turkey if preferred.
- For extra flavor, add diced jalapeños or a squeeze of lime before folding the dough.
- The crescent ring can be served with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole as accompaniments.
- Ensure the dough is soft enough to fold easily but not too warm to become sticky.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven for crispiness.
