Description

These Turkey Cheese Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make recipe perfect for gatherings or a quick family meal. Juicy ground turkey patties blended with herbs, onions, and peppers are cooked to perfection on the stovetop, topped with melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and served on toasted slider buns with a tangy mayonnaise-Dijon mustard sauce. Optional fresh lettuce and tomato add a refreshing crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey Patties

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Sauce & Assembly

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 12 slider buns
  • Butter, for toasting buns
  • Lettuce leaves, for serving (optional)
  • Tomato slices, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the turkey mixture: In a large bowl, gently combine ground turkey, chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly but avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
  2. Add binders: Stir in breadcrumbs and beaten egg until just combined. The mixture can remain slightly lumpy, which will help keep the patties moist.
  3. Fold in cheese: Gently fold half of the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese into the turkey mixture; save the remaining cheese for topping the cooked patties later.
  4. Divide and shape patties: Using a kitchen scale, divide the mixture into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Preheat skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Cook patties: Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain juiciness.
  7. Drain patties: Remove cooked patties and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Prepare sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until smooth.
  9. Toast buns: Lightly butter each slider bun and toast them in a pan or toaster oven until golden brown and warm.
  10. Assemble sliders: Spread the mayonnaise-Dijon sauce on the bottom halves of the buns. Place a turkey patty on each, top with the remaining shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and add optional lettuce leaves and tomato slices.
  11. Serve: Cover with the top bun half and serve immediately while warm and the cheese is slightly melted.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the turkey mixture to avoid tough patties.
  • Using a kitchen scale ensures evenly sized sliders that cook uniformly.
  • Butter the buns lightly for a golden, crispy texture.
  • Optionally add pickles or your favorite slider toppings for variety.
  • Ensure patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
