Description

This chicken marinade recipe is a flavorful blend of olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, and herbs that will take your grilled or baked chicken to the next level. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a weekend BBQ, this marinade is sure to become a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale

Marinade:

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Chicken:

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, minced garlic, basil, parsley, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  2. Place the chicken in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
  3. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 4–6 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
  4. When ready to cook, remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the remaining liquid. Grill, bake, or pan-fry the chicken until fully cooked and internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This marinade works great with chicken breasts, thighs, or drumsticks.
  • You can substitute maple syrup or honey for the brown sugar.
  • For added flavor, try marinating overnight.
