Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 2 white fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or sea bass)
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp water
- 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
- 1 small red chili, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced
- lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, water, garlic, chili (if using), and sugar. This creates the flavorful sauce for the fish.
- Place the fish fillets on a heatproof plate that fits inside your steamer. Pour the sauce mixture over the fish.
- Set up a steamer or a pot with a steaming rack and bring water to a boil. Place the plate with the fish into the steamer, cover, and steam for 8–10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Remove carefully and garnish with chopped cilantro and green onion. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- Serve with jasmine rice or steamed vegetables for a full meal.
- You can use parchment paper or banana leaves to wrap the fish before steaming for extra aroma.
- Adjust chili based on spice preference.
