Chicken and Gravy:
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (added at the end)
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Place the chicken in the slow cooker: Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Mix the gravy: In a medium bowl, combine the gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme. Pour over the chicken.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until the chicken shreds easily.
- Shred the chicken: Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker.
- Add sour cream: Stir in the sour cream until smooth and heated through.
- Serve: Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup.
- Add frozen peas or cooked carrots at the end for a complete meal.
