Description

A comforting and easy slow cooker recipe for tender chicken in a creamy gravy, perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.

Chicken and Gravy:

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (added at the end)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker: Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Mix the gravy: In a medium bowl, combine the gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme. Pour over the chicken.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until the chicken shreds easily.
  4. Shred the chicken: Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker.
  5. Add sour cream: Stir in the sour cream until smooth and heated through.
  6. Serve: Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup.
  • Add frozen peas or cooked carrots at the end for a complete meal.
