Description

This delicious Shrimp and Crab Spinach Dip is a creamy, savory appetizer combining succulent seafood with rich cheeses and spinach, baked to golden perfection. It’s perfect for parties and gatherings, served warm with bread or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1 cup lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

Dairy and Condiments

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare it for baking the dip later on.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet, add diced onion and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds to release the aroma.
  4. Mix the Creamy Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasonings: Stir in shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, paprika, and fresh lemon juice into the creamy base.
  6. Combine All Ingredients: Fold in the cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, sautéed onion and garlic, and the thoroughly drained chopped spinach. Mix gently until everything is evenly combined.
  7. Prepare to Bake: Spread the prepared mixture evenly into a greased baking dish, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
  9. Serve: Allow the dip to cool slightly before serving warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips for the best experience.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of Old Bay seasoning to the mixture before baking.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
