Description

Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Mixture
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional, for structure)
Toppings
- 1 fresh jalapeño, thinly sliced into rings
Others
- Nonstick cooking spray or parchment paper (for baking sheet preparation)
Instructions
- Preheat: Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Cheese: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded sharp cheddar and shredded pepper jack cheeses evenly. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour to help the crisps hold their shape while baking and mix well.
- Portion Cheese: Spoon about 1 heaping tablespoon of the cheese mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow room for spreading.
- Add Jalapeños: Lightly flatten each cheese mound with the back of a spoon or your fingers, then top each mound with a slice or two of the thinly sliced fresh jalapeño rings.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, edges turn golden brown, and become crisp. Watch closely near the end of baking to prevent burning.
- Cool: Remove from oven and let the crisps cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes so they firm up. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Use a silicone baking mat instead of parchment paper for easier removal and optimal crispness.
- For a milder flavor, reduce the number of jalapeño slices or substitute them with sweet mini peppers.
- Adding flour is optional but helps crisps maintain their shape better while baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to keep them crisp.
