Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, featuring thinly sliced steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and gooey cheese, all wrapped up in a crispy egg roll wrapper. Perfect for game day or as a fun appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale

For the filling:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak or sirloin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese

For assembling:

  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, sauté the onion and bell pepper: Heat olive oil over medium-high heat, add onion and bell pepper, and sauté until softened.
  2. Add steak and seasonings: Add the thinly sliced steak, cook until browned, then season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and mix in the shredded cheese.
  3. Assemble the egg rolls: Place filling in the center of an egg roll wrapper, fold bottom corner over filling, fold in sides, and roll tightly. Seal with water. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
  4. Fry the egg rolls: Heat vegetable oil to 350°F, fry egg rolls in batches until golden and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve: Enjoy hot with cheese sauce or ketchup for dipping.

Notes

  • Bake at 400°F for 18–20 minutes for a lighter version, brushing lightly with oil.
  • These can also be made ahead and frozen before frying.
