Description

These Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes combine the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak with the convenience of a sloppy joe. Tender beef, onions, and peppers in a savory sauce topped with melted provolone cheese, all served on a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joes:

  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.
  2. Cook beef: Brown the sliced beef for about 3-4 minutes, then set aside.
  3. Sauté vegetables: In the same skillet, cook onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Combine ingredients: Return beef to the skillet. Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Assemble sandwiches: Spoon the beef mixture onto hoagie rolls, top with provolone cheese slices.
  6. Melt cheese: Cover the skillet with a lid and heat until the cheese melts. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For authenticity, use ribeye if possible.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • If desired, increase beef broth for a saucier consistency.
