Ground Meat:
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
Skillet Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced small
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ cup beef or chicken broth
- ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Ground Meat: Brown the ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add Onions and Potatoes: Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, then stir in diced potatoes, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add Broth and Simmer: Pour in broth, cover, and simmer on medium-low heat for 12–15 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
- Finish with Cream and Cheese: Stir in cream, simmer for 3–5 minutes. Sprinkle cheese over the top and cover until melted. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

- For extra flavor, mix sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
- Swap potatoes for sweet potatoes or use half-and-half for a lighter version.
