Meat Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Additional Ingredients:

  • 6 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened.
  2. Add Sauce and Seasonings: Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  3. Prepare Rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F. Split hoagie rolls, spoon meat mixture onto each, top with cheeses.
  4. Bake: Bake sandwiches for 8–10 minutes until cheese melts. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
