Meat Mixture:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage (mild or hot)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Additional Ingredients:
- 6 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add Sauce and Seasonings: Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
- Prepare Rolls: Preheat oven to 375°F. Split hoagie rolls, spoon meat mixture onto each, top with cheeses.
- Bake: Bake sandwiches for 8–10 minutes until cheese melts. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
