Description

This Maple Glazed Chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts coated in a sweet and tangy homemade maple syrup glaze. Cooked on the stovetop for a quick and flavorful meal perfect for weeknights, it combines savory garlic and ginger with bright lemon juice for an irresistible sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 16 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 large breasts), sliced in half lengthwise
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

Maple Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Season and Cook Chicken: Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and black pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), about 5-7 minutes per side depending on thickness. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Prepare Maple Glaze: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, maple syrup, lemon juice, minced garlic, ground ginger, cornstarch, and water. Whisk the mixture continuously to dissolve the cornstarch and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Glaze the Chicken: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet and toss them gently in the maple glaze, ensuring they are evenly coated with the sauce.
  4. Serve: Serve the glazed chicken immediately while hot, spooning any extra glaze over the top for added flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • You can substitute lemon juice with lime juice for a slightly different citrus flavor.
  • For a thicker glaze, allow the sauce to simmer a bit longer before adding the chicken back.
  • Serve this dish with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
  • Leftover glazed chicken can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
