Description

These Homemade Reese’s Valentine’s Hearts are a delightful treat perfect for sharing on Valentine’s Day. Made with rich semi-sweet chocolate and creamy peanut butter, they combine the classic flavors of Reese’s in adorable heart-shaped molds. Easy to prepare and requiring only a few ingredients, this recipe delivers a perfect balance of sweet and salty with a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Peanut Butter Filling

  • 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Prepare Molds: Lightly grease silicone heart-shaped molds to ensure easy removal of the chocolates once set.
  3. Form Chocolate Shells: Pour the melted chocolate into each mold cavity, spreading it evenly to create a uniform layer. Place the molds in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
  4. Make Peanut Butter Filling: Meanwhile, in another bowl, mix the creamy peanut butter with powdered sugar until a smooth, evenly combined filling is formed.
  5. Fill Chocolate Shells: Remove the molds from the freezer and spoon the peanut butter mixture evenly into each hardened chocolate shell.
  6. Seal with Chocolate: Cover the peanut butter filling with more melted chocolate, ensuring each heart is fully sealed. Return the molds to the freezer for an additional 10-15 minutes until the chocolates are completely set.

Notes

  • Use good quality semi-sweet chocolate for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have coconut oil, you can substitute with butter or leave it out, but coconut oil helps create a smoother melt.
  • To remove chocolates easily, allow them to chill fully and gently flex the silicone molds.
  • Store finished chocolates in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a dairy-free option, ensure your chocolate chips and peanut butter are dairy-free.
