Description

This Ground Beef Philly Cheese Steak is a quick and delicious twist on the classic sandwich, featuring sautéed bell peppers and onions, seasoned ground beef, and melted provolone cheese all stuffed into warm hoagie rolls. Ready in just 25 minutes, it’s a perfect hearty meal for any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced

Vegetables

  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (mixed red and green)
  • 1 cup sweet onion, thinly sliced

Other Ingredients

  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and drizzle in the olive oil to prepare for sautéing the vegetables.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes until they are softened and fragrant.
  3. Cook Ground Beef: Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add the ground beef to the cleared side of the pan. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for rich flavor.
  4. Melt Cheese: Once the beef is fully cooked, spread the meat evenly in the skillet and top with the sliced provolone cheese. Cover the skillet briefly to allow the cheese to melt over the meat and vegetables.
  5. Assemble Sandwiches: Spoon the cheesy beef mixture into the hoagie rolls and serve immediately while warm and melty.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or American cheese for a different flavor.
  • For extra spice, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce while cooking the meat.
  • To make it healthier, use whole wheat hoagie rolls and lean ground beef or turkey.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet or microwave.
