Description

A delicious and quick ground beef and cabbage stir-fry recipe with Asian-inspired flavors. Perfect for a flavorful and satisfying meal that’s easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale

For the stir-fry:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (or olive oil)
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, julienned or shredded
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add sesame oil. Cook ground beef until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Saute aromatics: Add sliced onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add vegetables: Stir in cabbage and carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  4. Season and finish: Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha. Stir well to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Top with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  5. Serve: Enjoy on its own or over steamed rice or cauliflower rice.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Add bell peppers or snap peas for more color and crunch.
  • Leftovers keep well and are great for meal prep.
