Description

Indulge in the decadent delight of French Silk Brownies, a rich and creamy twist on classic brownies that will satisfy any chocolate lover’s cravings. These luscious treats feature a layer of silky smooth chocolate mousse atop a fudgy brownie base, creating a heavenly dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Layer:

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients listed on box)

French Silk Layer:

  • 1 cup cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (melted and cooled)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whipped topping or additional whipped cream (for garnish)
  • chocolate shavings or curls (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brownie Layer: Preheat oven and prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake and let the brownies cool completely.
  2. French Silk Layer: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together on high speed until light and fluffy. Add the cooled melted chocolate and vanilla, mixing until combined. Add eggs one at a time, beating for 2–3 minutes after each egg. Gently fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated.
  3. Spread the French silk layer evenly over the cooled brownies. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until set. Top with whipped topping and garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate instead of unsweetened.
  • Always ensure the brownies are completely cool before adding the silk topping to prevent melting.
