Ingredients
Scale
Sausage Dip
- 1 lb (16 oz) breakfast sausage or Italian sausage, your preference
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning or 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
To Serve
- Tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks
Instructions
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage while breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula. Stir occasionally and cook until the sausage is fully browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Make the Dip Base: Reduce the heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese directly to the cooked sausage in the skillet. Stir continuously until the cream cheese is completely melted and blended with the sausage, creating a creamy base.
- Add the Other Ingredients: Stir in the sour cream, shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, taco seasoning or paprika (if using), garlic powder, black pepper, and onion powder. Continue stirring gently until the cheeses melt and the mixture becomes smooth, creamy, and fully combined.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute the sausage with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- For a spicier dip, add jalapeño slices or use spicy sausage.
- This dip reheats well; warm it gently on the stovetop or microwave before serving again.
- Use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream for best creamy texture.
- To make it gluten-free, be sure the taco seasoning and chips are gluten-free certified.
