Description

These Easter Tumbleweed Candies are a delightful no-bake treat that combines the crunch of chow mein noodles with the sweetness of white chocolate and marshmallows, topped with colorful candy-coated eggs. Fun to make and even more fun to eat, these whimsical candies are perfect for celebrating the spring season.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
  • 2 cups crispy chow mein noodles
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup pastel-colored candy-coated chocolate eggs (like mini Cadbury eggs or M&M’s)
  • Optional: pastel sprinkles or shredded coconut for garnish

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. Melt white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the shortening (if using) in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine chow mein noodles and mini marshmallows. Pour the melted white chocolate over the mixture and gently fold to coat everything evenly.
  4. Form candies: Working quickly, scoop heaping tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming little nests or “tumbleweeds.” Press 2–3 candy-coated eggs into the center of each cluster while the chocolate is still soft.
  5. Add garnish: Add pastel sprinkles or shredded coconut on top if desired.
  6. Set candies: Allow candies to set at room temperature for about 30–45 minutes, or refrigerate for faster setting.

Notes

  • These no-bake treats are perfect for kids to help make.
  • You can swap white chocolate for butterscotch or milk chocolate chips for variation.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
