Ingredients
Scale
Oreo Crust
- 1 15.5 oz package Oreo cookies, crushed
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
Pudding Mixture
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
Toppings
- 1 cup Easter M&M’s
- 20 PEEP marshmallows
- Optional: edible green grass for decoration
Instructions
- Cream Butter, Cream Cheese, and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, softened cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Beat together until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- Prepare Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the 3 cups of milk with the two boxes of instant chocolate pudding mix. Whisk continuously until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.
- Combine Pudding and Cream Cheese Mixture: Pour the prepared pudding mixture into the bowl with the cream cheese mixture. Beat everything together until fully combined, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the pudding mixture. Be careful not to overmix; fold until there are no streaks and the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Assemble Cake: Take a 9×13 inch dish and press half of the crushed Oreo cookies evenly on the bottom. Spread the pudding filling mixture over this cookie crust. Then sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreo cookies evenly on top of the pudding layer.
- Chill: Place the assembled cake in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the cake is set and firm.
- Decorate and Serve: When ready to serve, evenly sprinkle the top of the cake with the Easter M&M’s for a colorful touch. Place one PEEP marshmallow on each slice of the cake, and optionally add edible green grass around the marshmallows to enhance the Easter theme. Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- This dessert is best served chilled and can be prepared a day in advance.
- Make sure the butter and cream cheese are softened for easier mixing and smoother texture.
- You can substitute Cool Whip with whipped cream for a fresher taste, but adjust sweetness accordingly.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies instead of Oreos.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
