Ingredients
Scale
Caramel Sauce
- 5 tablespoons butter, divided
- ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar, divided
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
Rolls
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ¼ cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the caramel rolls.
- Melt Butter for Caramel: Place 5 tablespoons of butter in an ungreased 9×13-inch baking pan and put it in the oven until melted.
- Make Caramel Sauce: Remove the pan from the oven and stir in ¾ cup of brown sugar, ¼ cup water, and the chopped pecans if using. Set this pan aside.
- Prepare Dough: Separate each can of crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles. Pinch the perforations carefully to seal the dough into complete rectangles.
- Butter the Dough: Spread the remaining 3 tablespoons of softened butter evenly over each rectangle to ensure rich flavor.
- Add Sugar and Cinnamon: In a small bowl, mix ¼ cup sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and the remaining ¼ cup brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough rectangles.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from the shorter side, roll up each rectangle tightly into a log. Cut each log into 4 slices, totaling 32 pieces.
- Arrange Rolls: Place the sliced rolls cut side down over the caramel mixture in the baking pan.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
- Invert and Serve: Immediately after baking, invert the pan onto a baking sheet to release the rolls and caramel sauce. Serve warm to enjoy their full gooey goodness.
Notes
- Ensure you fully seal the crescent dough perforations to prevent caramel from leaking during baking.
- Use fresh pecans for the best flavor and texture in the caramel sauce.
- Serve the rolls warm for the best taste experience; they can be reheated gently if needed.
- For a nut-free version, simply omit the pecans.
- Use a baking sheet under the pan when inverting to catch any caramel sauce spills.
