Description

Delight in these warm, gooey Crescent Caramel Rolls, perfect for a sweet breakfast treat or dessert. Soft crescent roll dough is slathered with butter, sugar, and cinnamon, then baked over a rich caramel pecan sauce for a decadent twist on a classic roll.

Ingredients

Scale

Caramel Sauce

  • 5 tablespoons butter, divided
  • ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar, divided
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Rolls

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the caramel rolls.
  2. Melt Butter for Caramel: Place 5 tablespoons of butter in an ungreased 9×13-inch baking pan and put it in the oven until melted.
  3. Make Caramel Sauce: Remove the pan from the oven and stir in ¾ cup of brown sugar, ¼ cup water, and the chopped pecans if using. Set this pan aside.
  4. Prepare Dough: Separate each can of crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles. Pinch the perforations carefully to seal the dough into complete rectangles.
  5. Butter the Dough: Spread the remaining 3 tablespoons of softened butter evenly over each rectangle to ensure rich flavor.
  6. Add Sugar and Cinnamon: In a small bowl, mix ¼ cup sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and the remaining ¼ cup brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough rectangles.
  7. Roll and Slice: Starting from the shorter side, roll up each rectangle tightly into a log. Cut each log into 4 slices, totaling 32 pieces.
  8. Arrange Rolls: Place the sliced rolls cut side down over the caramel mixture in the baking pan.
  9. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  10. Invert and Serve: Immediately after baking, invert the pan onto a baking sheet to release the rolls and caramel sauce. Serve warm to enjoy their full gooey goodness.

Notes

  • Ensure you fully seal the crescent dough perforations to prevent caramel from leaking during baking.
  • Use fresh pecans for the best flavor and texture in the caramel sauce.
  • Serve the rolls warm for the best taste experience; they can be reheated gently if needed.
  • For a nut-free version, simply omit the pecans.
  • Use a baking sheet under the pan when inverting to catch any caramel sauce spills.
