Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning mix
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Gravy
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup whole milk or 2% milk
- 1 (1 oz) packet ranch seasoning mix
- ½ cup sour cream
- Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season and Cook Chicken: In a bowl, combine ranch seasoning, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss the bite-sized chicken pieces in this seasoning mixture until well coated. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and add the chicken. Cook the chicken pieces until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- Make Gravy: In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic. Then stir in the condensed cream of chicken soup, milk, and the ranch seasoning mix from the packet. Stir continuously and allow the mixture to simmer gently until it becomes smooth and creamy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Combine and Simmer: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet and stir them into the creamy gravy. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the chicken simmer in the gravy for 15 minutes. This gentle simmer will allow the flavors to meld and make the chicken tender.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until the sauce is smooth and well blended. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve hot, ideally with mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the delicious creamy ranch gravy.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
- Leftover gravy can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
- Adding a splash of white wine to the gravy can deepen the flavor.
- Ensure not to overcook chicken to keep it tender and juicy.
- Use fresh herbs for garnish to enhance freshness and presentation.
