Description

Delight in these soft and flavorful Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies that are perfect for any occasion. With a hint of cream cheese and vanilla, these cookies are easy to make and even easier to enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Creaming the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Adding Flavors: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using.
  3. Preparing the Dough: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Chilling and Baking: Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters and place on parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are just barely golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • These cookies hold their shape well and are perfect for decorating.
  • For softer cookies, avoid overbaking.
  • Add colored sugar or sprinkles before baking, or frost once cooled.
  • Dough can be made ahead and frozen for up to 2 months.
