Description

Indulge in the delightful combination of coffee cake and banana bread with this easy-to-make and moist Coffee Cake Banana Bread. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, this recipe features a streusel topping and optional glaze for added sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Bread:

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Streusel Topping:

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter (cubed)

Glaze (optional):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 teaspoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the streusel. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the batter.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled banana bread if desired.

Notes

  • Overripe bananas work best for sweetness and moisture.
  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  • Store leftovers wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days.
