Description

Indulge in the rich and decadent flavors of this Chocolate Loaf Cake with Whipped Ganache. A moist chocolate cake topped with a fluffy ganache, this dessert is a true delight for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted and slightly cooled)

Whipped Ganache:

  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix wet ingredients: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract. Add the sour cream and melted chocolate, mixing until smooth.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. Bake the cake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and prepare ganache: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. To make the whipped ganache, heat the heavy cream until simmering, pour over chopped chocolate, let sit, then whip until light and fluffy.
  8. Finish and serve: Spread the whipped ganache over the cooled cake before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate in both the cake and ganache.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
