These Buttery Soft Pretzel Bites are a delightful snack or party appetizer that’s easy to make at home. Soft, buttery, and perfectly seasoned, these bite-sized treats are sure to be a hit with everyone.

Dough:
- 1½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For boiling:
- â…“ cup baking soda
- 8 cups water
For topping:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Coarse sea salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 12–15 inches long and cut into 1-inch bites.
- Bring 8 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot. Working in batches, drop the pretzel bites into the boiling water for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Brush the boiled pretzel bites with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush again with more melted butter after baking if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For sweet pretzel bites, skip the salt and toss warm bites in cinnamon sugar after baking.
- These are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a quick snack.
