Ingredients
Scale
Base Layers
- 1 sleeve graham crackers (about 9 full sheets)
Caramel Peanut Butter Mixture
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
- 1 1/2 cups chopped Butterfinger candy bars
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking. Arrange a single layer of graham crackers to cover the bottom, breaking pieces as necessary to fit snugly.
- Make Caramel Mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and brown sugar, stirring frequently. Add the creamy peanut butter and stir until smooth and combined.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and continue stirring constantly for about 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture bubbles and thickens slightly, creating a rich caramel texture. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract thoroughly.
- Layer Caramel and Crackers: Pour half of the caramel mixture over the graham crackers in the pan, spreading evenly. Add another layer of graham crackers on top, followed by the remaining caramel mixture, spreading it evenly over the second cracker layer.
- Add Butterfinger Topping: Sprinkle the chopped Butterfinger candy bars evenly over the top of the caramel layer. Press them gently into the caramel to secure.
- Chocolate Drizzle: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and fully melted. Drizzle the chocolate evenly over the top of the bars. Optionally, sprinkle chopped peanuts for added crunch.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate the assembled bars for at least 2 hours or until fully set and firm.
- Serve: Remove from the fridge, cut into 16 bars using a sharp knife warmed under hot water for clean slices, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For easier slicing, run a sharp knife under warm water before cutting to ensure clean edges.
- You can double the recipe and use a 9×13-inch pan to serve more people.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week to maintain freshness and texture.
