Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 day-old bread roll or 2 slices white bread, soaked and squeezed dry
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1–2 tablespoons breadcrumbs (as needed)
- 1 tablespoon oil or butter (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, egg, soaked bread, parsley, mustard, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Shape the mixture into 6–8 slightly flattened patties, similar to thick burgers.
- Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the Frikadellen for 4–5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
- Remove from the pan and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Mix well by hand until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated. If the mixture feels too wet, add breadcrumbs a little at a time until the texture is moldable but moist.
Notes
- Frikadellen are traditionally served with mustard, potato salad, or crusty bread.
- You can also bake them at 375°F for about 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of marjoram or nutmeg to the mix.
